There is a short test for math/science today, and it seems Kenji aced it.

担任：はい、今日は小テストをやります。

健二：（抜き打ちか、大丈夫かな…）

健二：（いいできだ、勉強しておいてよかった…）

愛花：すごい！わたしの自慢のカレシだもんね？ふふ♥

Kenji then goes for his part-time job at the family restaurant. Manaka visits him.

愛花：ふふ。遊びに来ちゃった。

健二：マナカちゃん。どうしたの？

愛花：ふふ、会いたくなっちゃったんだ。いつも大変そうだから…これ、使って？

健二：（マナカ愛用ガットをもらった）ありがと。疲れが吹っ飛ぶよ。

愛花：じゃあわたし、行くね。邪魔しちゃった、ごめんね。

健二：（よーし、がんばるか！）

During the late afternoon, he goes to the mountains to have one last look at the autumn leaves.

健二：疲れた…いくら紅葉がキレイでも、一人で廷々歩いてれば疲れるよな。

Manaka sends him a message, asking him if he is free at 6 PM to meet her.

愛花：あのね。家に帰ってからだけど、６時に外で会えないかな？

I guess it’s fine… Assuming I don’t have to go out before 1740 hrs to fetch my sister from tuition. Even if that’s the case, I could do some black magic.

Kenji replies that he is fine with that.

Manaka replies that she is waiting for him then.

愛花：よかった。家の前で待ってるから、またあとでね。

I was going to get Kenji to ask Manaka out for a short while, but since she sent a message first, never mind.

1545 hrs: Good, at least I don’t have to do black magic this time.

Welp, managed to activate the event, but now I have to go. I have to leave the DS charging on standby mode. Can’t turn it off either, or I’ll get punished. Again.

2335 hrs: Well, I’m back. Time to continue.

They go to the fast food restaurant for their short date.

愛花：ヤンソンの誘惑って知ってる？

健二：へっ？なにそれ。

Manaka is referring to a recipe called Janssons frestelse (lit. Jansson’s temptation). It is a traditional Swedish casserole made of potatoes, onions, pickled sprats, bread crumbs and cream.

愛花：ふふっ、お料理の名前。

健二：あ、外国料理ブーム、継続中なんだ。

愛花：ピンポン。スウェーデン料理です。

健二：へぇ、どんな感じの料理？

愛花：簡単に言っちゃうと、グラタンかな？

Gratin refers to a cooking method in which an ingredient is topped with a browned crust, often using breadcrumbs, grated cheese, egg and/or butter.

愛花：お芋と炒めた玉ねぎとアンチョビを重ねて、そこに生クリームと牛乳を混ぜて作ったソースをかけたら、オープンへ。

健二：…ウマそう。

愛花：ふふ、美味しくい♥　次はどこのお料理にしようかな？

健二：（いいなー！）

They kiss before going back from the fast food restaurant.

Kenji then goes to the restaurant for his dinner.

When he returns home, he thinks to himself that he should probably buy something for Manaka as well, since she brought him something earlier today.

健二：（…そうだ。マナカちゃんに何かプレゼントしようかな）

健二：（今度買い物に出かけるか…）

As he falls asleep, he imagines Manaka telling him:

The two walk to school together.

愛花：アコちゃん、レタスで眠れるようになったって。

健二：おお、よかった…って、レタス？レタス食べると眠るのか、マナカちゃんの考案？

愛花：わたしじゃなくて、イギリスのウサギの絵本を思い出して、そうだ、レタスだ、って。

健二：…話がよくわからないんだけど。

愛花：絵本で、子ウサギたちはレタスを食べると。必ず寝ちゃうの。それを思い出して。

健二：…アコちゃんってウサギだった？

愛花：ふふ、人間だよ。でもちょっと子ウサギっぽいかも。わたしも食べてみたらすぐ眠くなっちゃって。

健二：マジ？俺にも効くかな、俺も、布団に入ってから５分くらいたたないと眠れない時あるんだよな。

愛花：それ、十分に快眠。それに、あなたは子ウサギじゃなくて…カピバラ、かも？

健二：もうすぐクリスマスだな…。

愛花：うん。前から、雰囲気は好きだったんだったんだけどどこか、人ごとだったのに…不思議だね？あなたが隣にいるだけで、主人公になった気分。

健二：さしずめ、俺が王子様でマナカちゃんがお姫様ってとこ？

愛花：ふふっ。白馬の馬車で、パーティに連れ出してね？

健二：（今年は、いいクリスマスにしないとな）

During lunch break…

愛花：健二くん。

健二：なに？

愛花：こーくん。って呼ばれるの、どう？

It has been discussed before. Request denied. Not only does it sound weird, it sounds too similar to Moonstone’s real surname in on’yomi. 行けません！

健二：そうだな…。今のままでいいんじゃないかな。

愛花：ふぅん。じゃあ、いい。

健二：（今のままが一番だよな！）

They walk home together.

健二：物理の授業はどうだった？

愛花：先生、がんばってだよ？

健二：ってことは、最終的には大爆笑で授業中断？

愛花：うん。でもね？物理の授業って少し退屈だなって思ってたんだけど、テンポがよくなって、居眠りするひとが減ったの。

健二：へー…思わぬ効果があったってことか。

愛花：そうみたい。それでも彼は寝てたけど。

健二：ハハハ。また何かやらかすんじゃないか？

愛花：うん、それを期待してる人もいるよ？わたしとしては、ちゃんと授業を受けて欲しいけど。…でもちょっぴり楽しみ。ほんの少しだけ。

健二：（やっぱり楽しみなんだな…）

Kenji calls out Manaka for a short date at the park. After talking for a while, they kiss. With that, Kenji completes his lucky charm objective（おまじない）for this week.

This is one of the easier lucky charm objectives to complete.

Kenji goes to the ramen house for his dinner.

健二：今日はチャーシューはホロホロで美味かったな。

He calls Manaka out for a short while to have a drink at the family restaurant.

健二：マナカちゃん！

愛花：健二くん。

健二：ごめん、こんな時間に呼び出して。

愛花：ほんと、わがままなんだもん。

健二：新しい用語は習得できた？

愛花：うん。でもね、読む雑誌を限定したから、あまり必要じゃなくなっちゃったの。

健二：ん？てことは、前は手当たりしだい読んでたのか？

愛花：うん。だって、どれを見たらいいのかわからなかったんだもん。

健二：大変だったんじゃないか？ファッション雑誌って、そんなに安くないし。

愛花：その辺りは大丈夫。勉強用の雑誌は全部、図書館で借りてたから。

健二：へーっ、図書館にそんなのあるんだ？

愛花：わたしも最初はびっくりしたんだけど、マンガもあるのよ？今度、こそリマンが、借りちゃおうかな…。

健二：（マナカちゃんの家ってマンガも禁止なのか？）

愛花：送ってくれて、ありがとう。またね。

健二：ああ、またな。

Kenji then returns home. As he goes to sleep, he imagines Manaka telling him…

Apparently there is a special event during the morning. Since I also have a special event in the morning, I was unable to attend to it until the afternoon.

愛花：健二くん。

健二：あっ…。マナカちゃん。もう治ったのか？

愛花：見ての通り。カレシのお見舞いのおかげ。

健二：やっぱり？

愛花：もう、調子にのって。

健二：はは。

愛花：ふふ、早くデートしようね。がまんしてたんだから。

Ah, so that’s what the special event was. Manaka has recovered. Nice to see her back. 

A new notification came up:

彼女が風邪から快復しました。

She brought lunch for Kenji.

I am completely floored by this. My sensibilities tell me that she probably shouldn’t be doing this for the next couple of days, but who am I to argue? I’m just a wingman.

愛花：今日のおかず、どうかな？

健二：うん、今日もうまい、いいのかねぇ、こんなにうまくて。

愛花：もっと褒めてくれてもいいよ？

健二：マナカちゃんの料理、もっと食べたいなー。

愛花：ふふっ、了解しました。次回もお楽しみに♥

Kenji receives a call from Manaka.

健二：もしもし。

愛花：オッス、愛花だよ。今から会いたいんだけど、どうかな？

健二：今からか…。いいよ。じゃあ…屋上で。

愛花：ふふ、やった。じゃあ、またあとでね。

健二：うん、じゃあ。

Looks like Manaka has been missing Kenji for the last two days. Sure, go ahead guys. I’m just here recording everything down.

愛花：健二くん。

健二：あっ、マナカちゃん。

愛花：ふふ、ありがと。カノジョのお願いきいてくれて。

健二：もちろん。カレシだから、さ。

They kiss before going their separate ways.

They walk home together.

愛花：この前ね、お買い物に行ったときに、試合で何度か対戦したことのある子とばったり会ったの。

健二：へぇ、話したの？

愛花：うん、向こうから話しかけてくれて。その子ね、すごくテニスが上手で…最初に試合ときは、手も足も出なかったの。

健二：え！マナカちゃんが？

愛花：今は笑って話せるけど、そのあとは大変だったのよ？もう、悔しくて。

健二：何となく、想像できる気がする…。

愛花：ふふっ。それでね、この前はお互いの学校での練習方法とか、情報を交換してきたの。目からウロコガ落ちるような特訓も聞いてきたから、部長に言ってみようかと思って。

健二：お。スパイ合戦か？

愛花：大げさだよ。…でも、情報戦では負けないつもり、ふふふ…。

健二：（まさか、負けたことを根に持ってるわけではないよな？）

During tennis club...

部長：今日の練習はここまで！

健二：はぁ、今日もお疲れた…。

男子部員：お疲れ！今日は大活躍だったな、やるじゃん。

健二：（練習の成果かな…）

愛花：ふふ、スポーツマンだね？そういうところ、素敵。

He goes to the ramen house for his dinner.

As he goes to sleep, he imagines Manaka telling him:

During math/science class...

健二：今日は頭が冴えてるな。難しい公式も簡単に頭に入ってくるぞ。

His PE lesson is also going well.

He then visits Manaka after school.

愛花：お見舞い来てくれるのはうれしいけど。うつっちゃうわない？

健二：丈夫なんだよ、俺は。

愛花：じゃあ試しにうつるようなこと、しよっか？

健二：…ダメ。治ってから。

愛花：ふふ、今ちょっと考えた。

He returns home to style himself.

Never quite understood this option. What actually does he do?

健二：今日は結構きまってるな。ちょっとカッコいいかも？

As he goes to sleep, he thinks to himself that it is the exact middle of the week. Neither early nor late. 

健二：もう週の真ん中だ、早いような遅いような。

He imagines Manaka telling him:

Strange. Manaka isn’t walking to school with Kenji today.

During class…

健二：数学者といえば、エヴァリスト・ガロアだな。早熟がつ早世で、ついに生前は評価されることがなかった。政治活動に決闘に、波乱に満ちた生涯だったんだ。

Information piece: Évariste Galois is a mathematician whose work laid the foundations for group theory and Galois Theory. He passed away in a duel at the age of 20 for reasons still unknown.

Kenji’s phone rings. He also receives a notice that it is an important call from Manaka, and he should pick it up immediately.

健二：（電話…マナカちゃんだ）もしもし、マナカちゃん？

愛花：もしもし、ごめんね。

Man, she sounds like hammered shit. What’s going on?

健二：どうした？

愛花：わたし…風邪ひいちゃって。

Called it. She’s fallen ill.

健二：風邪？大丈夫なの？

愛花：うん。そんなにひどくないから。心配しなくて、大丈夫。ただ運動はできないから…。

健二：風邪のときまで部活のこと考えるなって。それより早く治せよ。

愛花：そうだね、ありがとう。…じゃあね。

健二：（愛花ちゃんが風邪か…）…（お見舞い、行ってみようかな）

Such is life.

A new task has appeared in Kenji’s scheduler:

It is named お見舞い, and also requires 10 mana points like the previous special command 休養 (see 17 November)

Under his wingman’s orders, he shifts his club activity slot to pay her a visit instead.

Extenuating circumstances, I call it.

健二：今日は調子がいいな。なんか体が軽いぞ！

No one to talk to him this time: Manaka is still at home resting.

It’s 3 pm. Time to meet Manaka. I hope you brought flowers, Kenji.

健二：（マナカちゃんの具合、どうかな…）

愛花：はーい！

健二：マナカちゃん。俺だけど。

愛花：うそ？ま、まだダメ…。いいよ、入って。

愛花：健二くん。

健二：ほら、お待ちかねだろ？なんつって。

愛花：うん、待ってた。

健二：あれ、いつもより素直だな。

愛花：いつも素直だよ？

健二：はは、そうだな。喜んでくれたら、来た甲斐があった。

愛花：こういうの、ちょっとあこがれてたから。病気になると、カレシがお見舞いに来てくれるの。

健二：お見舞いする方は、できれば来ないで済む方がいいんだけどな。

They talk for a while.

健二：あんまり長くいたら、体に悪いよな。そろそろ帰るよ。

愛花：また、来てくれる？

健二：ああ、また来るよ。じゃあな。（マナカちゃん、早くよくなるといいな）

During the evening, he has his dinner at the riverside restaurant.

健二：ここ、デートの帰りに来るのにいいかもな。

As he falls asleep, he thinks this to himself:

健二：そろそろ調子出てきたかな。このまま一週間乗り切るか。

He thinks about texting her, but then he realises he probably shouldn’t be disturbing her, and scratches the idea.

健二：（マナカちゃん、体調悪くて寝てるかもしれない。メールはやめよう。）

While he drifts into slumber, he imagines Manaka telling him:

これじゃ…お客には出せないよ。

Today is my off day. The last of my off days, actually. I need to use all my leave days for my trip to Japan.

Kenji goes for his tennis club. It was a horrible day for him.

健二：今日は調子悪いな。ほとんど拾えなかった…。

愛花：カッコイイところ、みせてね♥

Shut up. I’m having a cold today.

Kenji’s handphone rings. Manaka wants to go to the beach with him.

I almost forgot: Kenji also has a free day today.

健二：もしもし

愛花：もしもし。わたし、愛花だよ。今いい？

健二：いいよ、どうした？

愛花：あのね…。急だけど、今から会いたいな。ここでいいかな？（海水浴場）

健二：いいよ。

愛花：じゃあ、持ち合わせは何時にしようか？

健二：そうだな…。11:00 AM

愛花：ちょっと早くないかな？その…準備とか…。

健二：そう？じゃあ…。

愛花：じゃあ、持ち合わせは何時にしようか？

健二：そうだな…。02:00 PM

愛花：うん、それでいいよ。

Kenji receives a text from Manaka after the telephone conversation.

愛花：今回はわたしから連絡したけど、今度はちゃんとカレシから誘ってね？なんて

Kenji arrives at New Towano Station 5 minutes early.

They talk as they walk to the beach.

健二：シーズンオフだと、人がいないなー。

愛花：わたしは、これくらいのほうがいいけど。

健二：どうして？

愛花：だって、あなたと…のう、その顔！わかってて言ってる 。イジワル！

健二：（うんうん、ごちそうさま！）

Kenji brings Manaka back to her house. It was a short date.

店長：フェアに向けて、店内のディスプレイをお願いしたいんだけど…。

健二：わかりました。

店長：おぉ、見事だな。君に頼んでよかった。

健二：（センスを磨いておいたおかげかな…）

愛花：やっぱり、センスいいね。憧れちゃうな、なんて。ふふ！

Kenji goes to the riverside restaurant for his dinner. He thinks to himself that the view from the restaurant is great, and he should go there when he dates Manaka.

As he goes to sleep, he thinks to himself that Christmas is coming soon.

健二：そういえば、もうすぐクリスマスだな…。
Kenji: Come to think of it, it’s going to be Christmas soon…

As he falls asleep , he imagines Manaka telling him 「茶柱、立て～！」
