Today in
the lab: making synthetic urine. Because even researchers who shed blood
(literally) in the name of science draw the line at using urine for research.
Unfortunately
the synthetic urine smells nothing like the real stuff. Should have used
ammonia instead of sodium hydroxide to stabilise the pH.

健二：マナカ姫…おはよ…。
愛花：ふふ。あなた見てると、一緒に寝たくなっちゃうから不思議。
健二：うん、ぜひ…。
愛花：ふふっ、もう。ほら、起きて？遅刻しちゃうよ？
They walk to school together. Not like Kenji has any
say in the matter.
愛花：ねぇ、動物を飼うなら何がいい？
健二：俺の部屋、ペット飼っちゃいけないからな…。
And that’s
why if I ever get a chance to own (not rent) a house, I will take it. No
landlords to take instructions from.
愛花：じゃあ「もし」飼うなら？
Small parrots.
Like the lovebirds I already have at home. Feisty little creatures with quite
some attitude, but they are pretty and rather easy to take care of as compared
to small mammals.
健二：現実的に考えると、金魚か亀かな。場所とらないし世話も楽しそうだし。
Used to
keep goldfish, but they dirty the fish tank very quickly. Moved on to more
local fish like gourami but never had them ever since the tank burst. Not
allowed to keep tortoises or terrapins due to bad fengshui. Also didn’t really
like them anyway.
愛花：亀なら、ウサギのほうがいいよ。
健二：「ウサギとカメ」か。いいかもな、鳴かないし。

愛花：じゃあ、ウサギ！飼うなら、ウサギに決定だね？
A bit
rushed, aren’t we?
健二：「もし」の話だよな？
They hold hands as they walk to school.
During lunch break.
健二：マナカ姫ってさ、寝る前に何かしてることってある？
愛花：寝る前は…軽く柔軟したりする、かな？
健二：柔軟？なんで？
愛花：なんでだろう？昔からやってるから、ずっと。そうすると、良く眠れるような気がして。
健二：そんなことしなくても、マナカ姫はすぐ眠れるんじゃないの？
愛花：…やるのとやらないのじゃ、違うよ？ちょっとだけ。
健二：どういう風に？
愛花：それは、ホラ。…あっ、どっちかというと、寝覚めがいい…かな！うん、そう。だからやっぱりやったほうがいいの。あなたもそうしたほうがいいよ？絶対。
健二：（やっぱりあまり意味はない？）
During tennis club, he is requested for help from a

男子部員：なぁ、ちょっと勉強でわからないところあるんだけど、聞いていいか？
健二：お、おう…。（大丈夫かな…）

男子部員：サンキュ！助かったよ、お前けっこう勉強してんだな。
健二：（普段から勉強しておいてよかった…）
愛花：あ、アタマいいんだ。負けないから！ふふ！
