Moonstone’s notes: Formatting & Style Guide

Where possible, British English is preferred.

All text in English will follow the default font style with no in-built paragraph spacing. Paragraphs are separated by double-spacing. Pilcrows (¶) will be used in examples to show paragraph spacing.

Narration of the character’s life will be in normal type. The third person voice is used in this instance.

During the morning, Kenji walks to school.

Observations made by the reviewer will be in italic. The first person voice is used in this instance.

I probably shouldn’t be commenting on this.

Translations and info pieces will be in Courier New. The passive third person voice is used in this instance.

This game is known in China informally as 爱相随.

For quick access, a new style called Translations should be added. When moving to HTML, use this formatting to add this style:

For emphasis, bold type is recommended.

All text in Japanese will be in MS Mincho with no in-built paragraph spacing. Characters’ dialogue will be recorded using their first name as the header, not the last name as is customary for Japanese.

Dialogue is double-spaced between characters.

For multiple-choice junctures, each choice is given a bullet point or a number, depending on whether the choice number appears on the game screen.

Numbers in the Japanese segment will follow the following rules:

-          For single digits, a full-width character is used.

-          For 2 or more digits, half-width characters are used.

The punctuation <!?> will always use half-width characters, regardless of language of use.

For study session questions, the entire question will be in bold. All English in the text will revert to the standard font. Question numbers are marked Ａ・Ｂ in full-width characters. The first number indicates the segment number and the second number is the question number.

The following special characters are used in the logbook: ♪, ♥. For quick access, they should be registered under AutoCorrect as (quaver) and (heart) respectively. Because they are half-width characters, they must be followed by a half-width space if they were used to replace punctuation marks. 

Screenshots can be taken where possible. Resolution is 192×256 per screen, with the width doubled when both screens are used. Screenshots must be saved in PNG format. DeSmuMe has a built-in screenshot function. An example (full-size) is given below

Incidentally, it is the only picture where the player character is visible. 

This log is split into three sections of 310-660-310 px, for a total width of 1280 px. To avoid overrun, it is advisable to limit picture width to 640 px. 

Videos can be added, but width must be limited to 480 px.
