How the

National Foundation Day is a national holiday in Japan
celebrated annually on February 11, celebrating the foundation of Japan and the
accession of its first Emperor, Emperor Jimmu.
In its original form, the holiday was named Empire Day. Given
its reliance on Shintoism and its reinforcement of the Japanese nobility,
Kigensetsu was abolished following World War II. Ironically, February 11 was
also the day when General MacArthur approved the draft version of the model
Constitution in 1946.
The commemorative holiday was re-established as National
Foundation Day in 1966.
Kenji’s luck is not looking good today.

健二：今日は調子が悪いな。ほとんど拾えなかった…。
愛花：ファイトー！と・わ・の！ふふ。
He then asks Manaka if he had heard about the story of Romeo and Juliet.
健二：マナカちゃんってさ、ロミオとジュリエットって読んだことある？
愛花：もちろん。ロミオがもう少し頼れる人なら、二人は幸せになれたのかな…。
Hmmm…
That’s not
romantic at all.
健二：だよな、男は体を張って愛する女を守らないとな！
愛花：うん、そうだね。素敵だな、そんな人…。
Kenji goes to the beach for the late afternoon.
愛花：健二くん。
Yo what?
健二：マナカちゃん？
愛花：やっぱり、あなただった。
健二：えっ？
愛花：遠くから、ちらっと見えただけだったの。ふふ、追いかけてきてよかった。

They talk for a while before they go their separate ways.
健二：っと、そろそろ行くかな。
愛花：そっか、そうだね。
健二：ああ、じゃあな。
愛花：じゃあね！
…
健二：海って、季節に限らず一人で来ると物悲しくなるな…。
He returns home and does his hobby. Whatever it is.
It seems to
be listening to music, given his comments on audio equipment last week.
健二：楽しかったな！なんか時間をすごく有効に使えた気がするぞ！
Kenji decides to call Manaka out for a short while.
愛花：もしもし、どうしたの？
健二：あのさ。今から会えないかな、大丈夫？
愛花：ダメ…ちょっと今は、出られないの。
健二：そっか、わかった。じゃあ、また今度。
愛花：はぁ、残念。また今度ね。
It didn’t work out that well.
Damn.
Kenji goes to sleep. He imagines Manaka telling him:
あなたじゃないよね？ハメられたんだよね？
