Die Startmeldung für heute ist:「秋、お芋が美味しい季節！…なんて。」

...Ich hasse Süßkartoffeln. 

Die Beide gingen zusammen zur Schule. Manaka fragte Kenji, ob er der Geschichtelehrer, Herr Mori, kommt. Kenji antwortete, dass er ein alter Mann ist. Er ist fast 60 Jahre alt, und sehr schnell wird er in den Ruhestand treten. Manaka dachte, dass es für ihn einsam wird. Kenji fragte Manaka, ob sie Herr Moris Unterrichte mag. Weil er nett und intelligent ist, mag Manaka seine Unterrichte. Kenji sagte, dass seine Unterrichte schläfrig machten. Vielleicht wegen seiner ruhiger Sprachton machte alle Schüler schlafen, sagte Manaka.

An der kleinen Pause fragte Manaka über den Anrichten von Fische. Wenn sie die Schuppe von dem Fisch schälte, der Fisch sieht aus wie es starrt sich an. Kenji antwortete, dass es manchmal unheimlich, wenn er ein Fisch auf dem Brett liegt, und die Augen gucken. Manaka sagt weiter, dass sie das Messer überhaupt nicht bewegen kann, wenn sie die unheimlichen Augen des Fisches sieht. Kenji schlägt Manaka vor, um ihre Augen zu schließen, aber er findet das zu gefährlich.

An der Weg nach Hause, Manaka sagte, dass sie für ihre nächste Sportunterricht tanzen müssen wird. In ihre Gruppe soll sie mit den Mitgliedern ihrer Gruppes Tanzschritte erfinden, aber weil es eine, die sehr gut tanzt, hatte sie alles erfunden. Aber, weil das Mitglied sehr schwierige Tanzschritte erfunden hat, hatte Manaka Angst, dass sie der Schritt halten nicht. Das Mitglied sagte, weil alle Mitglieder in Sportclubs sind, wird es einfach, obwohl sie schwierige Tanzschritte erfunden hat. Kenji dachte, dass es seltsam, dass Manaka für etwas wenig Selbstvertrauen hat.

Manaka schickte Kenji eine SMS. Sie sagte, dass sie heute viele Asse im Tennisclub gespielt hat, und sie wollte eines Tages mit Kenji spielen.

29. Oktober

Das Liebespaar ging zusammen zur Schule. Kenji fragte Manaka, ob es hilft, wenn sie die Trainingintensität erhöht. Manaka antwortete, obwohl es müde machen wurde, es macht sie nicht so müde, dass sie auf dem Boden fällt. Deshalb wurde sie mehr trainieren. Kenji stimmt das nicht zu, weil er dachte, dass es für den Körper schlecht wird, wenn man übermüdet wird. Aber das größte Problem, sagte er, ist wenn sie weniger Zeit mit Kenji hat, wenn sie das tun. Manaka seufzt.

Für Mittagessen hat Manaka auch etwas gebracht. Es war lecker, so wie am Montag (sieh 27. Oktober). Obwohl es gut gemacht hat, machte Kenji Sorgen, dass es schwierig für Manaka wird, wenn sie jeden Tag Mittagessen für ihm brachte. Manaka findet das nicht störend, weil sie nur will, dass Kenji glücklich wird.

Es ist Zeit um zurückzugehen. Kenji fragt Manaka, ob sie der vergrabende Schatz in der Schule gehört hat. Manaka antwortete, dass es nur einer Streich, der man herumriecht. Vielleicht wird etwas gesteckt, dachte Kenji. Wenn jeder auf diesem Gerücht aufpasst, gibt es die Gelegenheit, um ein anderes Geheimnis zu stecken.

Sie halten die Hände, als sie am Weg nach Hause gehen.

Manaka schickte Kenji eine SMS. Sie sagte, dass sie von den Mitgliedern ihres Tennisclubs viel über Kenji gehört hat, und zwischen der Mitgliedern ist er sehr beliebt.

Am Abend ging Kenji zur Bowlingbahn. Er hat sehr lang das nicht getan. Er dachte, dass er seine Freundin da bringen soll. Manaka hat eine SMS zu ihm geschickt. Sie war nicht sicher, wie soll sie für ihre ankommende Verabredung kleiden. Sie wollte ein Urteil von Kenji. Kenji antwortete, dass er ein erfrischendes Aussehen mag.

Dann ruft sie an, ins Restaurant verabreden. Manaka will er 「コーくん」(Ko-kun) nennen. Weil es sehr komisch klingt, geht das nicht. Sie küssten, bevor sie zurückgingen. Manaka sagte, dass ihrer Welt glänzend, wenn sie mit Kenji küsste.

Ach, so ist das Gefühl Verliebtseins.

Als er ins Bett ging, dachte er, dass Manaka gute Laune hatte, und er wird als ihr Freund für sie glücklich.  Er vorstellt sich, dass Manaka zu ihm sagte: 「セイー、ハロ！」

Es dauerte eine ganze Nacht, bevor ich erkenne, dass sie "Say Hello!" gesagt hat. Ich bin ein Dummkopf. 

28. Oktober

Am Morgen, Kenji fragte Manaka, ob sie die Praxis ihren Eltern übernehmen will. Manaka war nicht so sicher. Wenn sie ein Kind war, würde sie ein Bäckerei betrieben, weil sie in der Praxis immer traurige Menschen sah. Trotzdem in der Bäckerei sah sie glückliche Menschen. Deshalb würde sie Bäckerin lieber als Ärztin werden. Kenji sagte, dass Ärzte sehr wichtig sind, und als ein Kind von einem Arzt, soll Manaka das gut wissen. Manaka antwortete, dass sie wusste, dass die Rettung des Lebens wichtig ist, aber jetzt wurde sie nur wünschen, dass sie ihrer geliebte Personen glücklich wird. Sie sagte, weil sie selbstsüchtig ist, wird sie nichts zu gebrauchen. Kenji sagt, weil sie über das gedacht hat, ist sie eine beeindruckende Person.

Nach dem zweite Pause, Manaka hatte sich erinnert, dass sie das Kochbuch zu Miki zurückgeben sollte. Miki war in Grundschule Manakas Mitschülerin. Obwohl sie in verschiedene Hochschulen sind, sind sie sich noch in Verbindung setzen. Miki hatte einem Kochbuch gekauft, aber sie hat das niemals gelesen. Deshalb hatte Manaka das geliehen. Miki sagte, dass sie sich damit begnügt, wenn sie das Kochbuch gekauft hat. Manaka verstand das nicht, aber sie hat sehr interessant gefunden.

Das Liebespaar ging von Schule zurück. So wie letzter Samstag (sieh 25. Oktober), Manaka sah Kenji an. Weil sie wollte, sah sich er an, sagte sie. Kenji antwortete, dass es kein Interessantes um zu sehen gibt. Manaka sagte, dass sie glücklich ist, wenn sie an ihn sah. Kenji stimmt das nicht, weil er jeden Tag an den Spiegel ihn sah und nicht glücklich wird. Trotz ist er immer glücklich, wenn er Manaka ansah. Sie halten die Hände. Manaka mag es, wenn sie mit Kenji Hände halten. Deshalb soll er loslassen nicht.

Am Abend, Kenji hat Manaka im Fontänepark getroffen. Sie hatten noch ein interessantes Gespräch, küssen, und ging zurück.

Als er ins Bett geht, denkt er, dass Manaka gute Laune hat, und er wird als ihr Freund glücklich für sie. Er vorstellt sich, dass Manaka zu ihm fragt  „Was liegt unter die Narben?“

Äääähhh?

Plötzlich tönt das Handy. Manaka hat eine SMS geschickt. Sie fragt, was gibt an dem Mond außer dem Kaninchen.

Die chinesische Übersetzung hat 3 Wähle gegeben: Chang’e, Zhu Bajie und Diao Chan. Klassisches chinesisches Märchen.

Die Original hat ein verschiedene Frage: Was das Englische Wort für サツマイモ ist. Das richtige Antwort ist „Sweet Potato“ (Süßkartoffel).

Kenji antwortet, dass Chang’e an dem Mond lebt. Manaka entschuldigt sich, weil sie so eine seltsame Frage gefragt hat.

Ja, das war sehr seltsam. 

27. Oktober

Die Beide gehen zu zweit zur Schule. An den Weg zur Schule, Manaka ruft aus. Sie fragt, was der Junge dort hält. Es ist eine Taschenspielkonsole. Manaka fragt, ob es in Schule verboten ist. Kenji antwortet, wenn die Lehrer diese Spielkonsolen sehen, wurde die Spielkonsole konfiszieren. Er fragt auch, ob es Schüler, die diese Spielkonsole bringen. Manaka antwortet, dass nur wenige Mitschülerinnen  Spielkonsole mitnehmen. Die Spiele sieht sehr brutal aus, sagt sie weiter.

Kenji versucht, um Manakas Hand zu halten. Aber weil seine Zeitwahl schlecht war, gab es nicht.

Im Klasse, Manaka ruft Kenji an. Sie woll mit ihm am Sonntag im Karaokehaus treffen. Er versucht, um 9 Uhr am Morgen ihr treffen, aber es ist für Manaka zu früh.

Ach, das geht nicht so gut. 9 Uhr war die einzige Zeit, die ich vollstes Vertrauen hat, dass ich mein DS anschalten konnte. Obwohl ich gern singe, war ich nicht der Eingetroffene.

Er versucht dann um 7 Uhr Abend ihr treffen, und so wird es festgelegt. Nach einem betretenen Schweigen, sagt Manaka, dass Kenji auflegen soll. Kenji wartet auch auf Manaka, um sie aufzulegen. Manaka sagt weiter, dass sie jetzt nicht auflegen wollte. Dann sagt sie, dass sie Kenji liebt, und plötzlich legt sie auf. Kenji war überrascht. Manaka schickt ihn ein SMS, dass weil sie ihm heute für den ankommenden Sonntag ihm getroffen hat, soll er für den nächsten Mal ihr treffen.

An der kleinen Pause kommt Manaka zum Kenjis Klassenzimmer. Sie fragt ihn, ob er der Grund von Verliebtsein wusste. Kenji weiß das nicht. Manaka erklärt, dass es eine Auswirkung von Gehirnchemie und Hormonen. Das war für Kenji ein bisschen direkt, und für Manaka sieht es eine Enttäuschung aus. Sie sagt, wenn sie wegen die Auswirkung von Adrenalin und Endorphin um zu miteinander gehen sind dachte, würde sie unheimlich. Kenji fragt, ob es echt wegen diese Hormonen jemanden zu verlieben. Manaka antwortet, dass sie das nicht denken wollte.

Im P.M. Magazin 05/2014 gibt es einer interessanter Beitrag über Verliebtsein und Computers (Können wir Computer mehr als Menschen lieben?) Dieser Spiel war auch einer, der gebieten hat.

Es ist Zeit für Mittagessen. Manaka trifft Kenji ein, um zusammen zu essen. Aber Kenji habe für Mittagessen nichts gebracht, und deshalb muss er etwas einkaufen. Manaka sagt, dass es nicht nötig, weil sie Mittagessen für ihm gebracht.

Das… war sehr nachdenklich.

Der Mittagessen, das sie gemacht hat, schmeckt sehr gut. Manaka sagt, falls der Mittagessen nicht zu seinem Geschmack würde, ist es nicht zu spät, um kaufen zu gehen. Manaka will Kenji seine Meinung nach diesem Mittagessen geben, und er soll ernst sein.

Ich habe bemerkt, dass Manaka viel Mal 「…なんて。」(…vielleicht) sagte, wenn sie ihre Sätze endet.

Der ankommende Sonntag ist auch Kulturfest. Deshalb muss Kenji jede Montag und Freitag für das vorbereiten. Obwohl er nicht willig ist, muss er das tun. Manaka kommt zu ihm, und sagt zu ihm, dass er mehr Interesse für das haben soll.

Heute ist ein langsamer Tag im Büro. Fast alle Beamten sind verschwunden. Lass uns mal das probieren…

Kenji ruft Manaka aus. Er will am hinten der Schulen mit ihr treffen. Manaka antwortet dass sie für ihrer kleiner Verabredung sich auf regt.

Sie treffen am hinten der Schulen. Kenji entschuldigt sich, weil er so ausgerufen hat. Weil sie ihm immer sehen wollte, sagte Manaka, dass er sich nicht entschuldigen soll. Sie haben noc h ein interessantes Gespräch, das der Flügelmann nicht hören kann.

Vielleicht es ist nur Liebespaare, die immer Gesprächthemen haben.

Weil es keine Schüler da sind, küssen sie. Manaka sagt, dass sie nur Kenji sieht. Nach dem Kuss schimpft Manaka Kenji verspielt aus, dass er wegen ihres Kuss in der Schule nachdenken soll. Sie gehen zu ihren einzigen Klassen zurück. Manaka schickt ihm noch eine SMS. Sie sagt, obwohl sie gerade ihm getroffen hat, vermisst sie ihn.

Am Abend geht Kenji zum Hafenpark. Der Landschaft sieht sehr schön aus. Manaka hat ihn viele SMS geschickt. Weil sie sich für Kleidung nächste Verabredung nicht entscheiden können, fragt sie Kenji, welche Farben er möge. Er antwortet, dass er helle warme Farben mag. Sie hat auch ihn gefragt, ob er lange Haare mag. Er antwortet weiter, dass er die Frisur, die Manaka jetzt hat, mag.

Kenji ruft Manaka aus, um im Restaurant Abendessen einzunehmen. Kenji versucht, um Manaka ihrer Vorname zu nennen.

Ach, so war das Problem. Die chinesische Übersetzung hat alle Nuancen von japanischen Höflichkeitsformen weggenommen. Zuvor (25. Oktober) hatte ich die erste Wahl getroffen. Ich entschied mich für schlecht.

Das ist das Problem, wenn man von einer Sprache mit vielen Höflichkeitsformen zu einer Sprache mit wenigen Höflichkeitsformen übersetzt.

Er nennt Manaka bei ihr Vorname, so wie Manaka ihn genannt hat. Wenn sie nur normale Freunde waren, nannte Manaka Kenji bei seiner Nachname, Kojima. So war es einverstanden. Bevor sie zurückgehen, küsste sich noch einmal. Kenji bringt Manaka nach ihrem Haus, und dann geht Kenji nach seinem Haus zurück. Als er nach Hause zurückgeht, er empfängt einer Taxt von Manaka. Manaka hat geschrieben, wenn sie mit Kenji trifft, war es wie die Zeit vergeht.

Als er ins Bett geht, denkt er, dass Manaka gute Laune hat, und er wird als ihr Freund für sie glücklich.  Er vorstellt sich, dass Manaka zu ihm sagt: 「やめて！ブレーキ付いてないんだから！」(Hör auf! Es gibt keine Bremsen!)

Was für einen Albtraum.

Die Spiele hat 3 Wähle gegeben: der Ryukyu-Kaninchen, der Baumwollschwanzkaninchen oder die Hase. Wenn es auf Deutsch übersetzt, ist der Antwort sehr klar, aber auf Japanisch ist der Antwort nicht so klar.

Kenji antwortet, dass der japanische Hase eine Art von Hasen ist. Manaka entschuldigt sich, weil sie so eine seltsame Frage gefragt hat. 

26. Oktober

Es ist Zeit für die Verabredung.

Ich habe schon vergessen, wohin Kenji mit seiner Freundin gehen.

Er geht 10 Minuten früh zum Bahnhof. Manaka ist noch nicht da, aber sie kommt schnell schon. Manaka fragt, ob Kenji lang gewartet hat. Er antwortet, dass er nicht lang gewartet hat, und hat gerade gekommen. Manaka hat sich modisch gekleidet. Bevor sie zu dem Ort ihrer Verabredung gehen, küssen sie am Eingang des Bahnhofs.

Sie sprechen am dem Weg zum Verabredungsort. Wenn sie an die Endstation aussteigen, gehen sie nach dem Ort. Manaka fragt, ob ein Führerschein sehr schwer zu machen ist. Kenji weiß nicht, aber er denkt, dass Manakas Eltern es gefährlich finden, und deshalb das nicht erlauben.Manaka antwortet, weil die Praxis Hausbesuche macht, muss sie ein Führerschein machen. Sie sagt  jedoch, dass ihre Eltern nicht mögen würden, wenn sie mit Kenji bei Auto treffen würde. Deshalb würde Kenji streng geheim halten, wenn es passieren würde.

Sie halten die Hände als sie nach die Verabredungsort gehen. Manaka fragt Kenji, ob er etwas gefühlt hat. Weil er nicht besonders gefühlt hat, sagt Manaka, dass sie fester halten soll. Kenji gibt einen Kuss, und dann sind sie vor dem Zoo.

Ach. So haben sie sich verabreden. Den Zoo. Zum Glück fährt die Beide automatisch nach dem Verabredungsort, sonst würde es schlimm.

Manaka will Kenji ein Ort zu gehen. Er schlug vor, nach die Giraffe gehen. Obwohl sie diese Wahl nicht mag, findet sie die Augen den Giraffen süßniedlich. Kenji findet Manaka auch süßniedlich, aber Manaka findet dieser Witz sehr kalt. Dann küssen sie noch einmal.

愛花：目がるるしてる…カワイイね♥

健二：キリンを見て、目がキラキラしてる高嶺もね♥

愛花：そんなからかいにね、反応しません。

健二：首を長―くして、反応するのを待ってます。

Zum Glück war es der 195-Küsse-Marathon am Freitag nicht. Es gab noch Refrainküsse, aber sie küssen nur 17mal. Ja, ich habe das gezahlt.

Weil es noch nicht Zeit zurückzugehen, geht die Beide nach den Fontänepark.

Eigentlich möchte ich nicht nach den Fontänepark gehen, aber die anderen Wählen werden nicht viel besser.

An den Weg zu dem Fontänepark, sehen sie ein Liebespaar. Dieses Liebespaar sieht wie Mittelschüler. Kenji und Manaka halten Hände, als sie zum Fontänepark gehen. Weil Kenji ein bisschen langsam war, hat Manaka Angst, dass er ihr nicht mag, und halt ihrer Hand nicht.

So wie ein Liebespaar.

Kenji sagt, dass etwas schön ist. Manaka wird nervös, aber Kenji fügt hinzu, dass der Wasser am Fontäne glänzend, und deshalb ist es sehr schön. Sie küssen noch einmal. 9 Küsse, um genau zu werden.

Weil es Mittag ist, gehen sie zum Familienrestaurant, um Mittagsessen zu essen. Manaka fragt, was er essen mag. Er antwortet, dass er chinesische Essen mag, weil er öliges Essen mag.

愛花：健二くん。一つだけ。聞いていい？

健二：うん、いいけど？

愛花：ねぇ、好きな食べ物ってなんだっけ？いちおう、確認させて？

健二：好きな食べ物か…最近は、そうだな…。中華料理が好きだな！油っぽくて“はぁ食った！”っていう満足感がね！

愛花：油っぽいの、好きなの？

健二：まあね、腹持ちがいいっていうの？

愛花：うぅん…。

健二：高嶺は、中華料理きらい？

愛花：好きよ？だけど、油ものだと、冷めちゃうと、ね。うーん…。

健二：（冷めてから？）

Der japanische Eindruck von chinesischem Essen ist ganz anders von meinem Eindruck von chinesischem Essen. Vielleicht sind in Japan nordchinesisches Essen häufiger als südchinesisches Essen.

Manaka sagt, dass es schlimm, wenn man im kaltem Wetter Öliges essen, umso eher, als es Herbst ist und der Wetter kälter wird. Kenji war ratlos, warum es schlimm ist, wenn man im kalten Wetter das isst.

Manaka sagt am außen des Restaurants, dass sie viele Erinnerungen gebacht hat. Am Weg nach Manakas Haus, sieht die Beide ein großes Motorrad. Manaka fragt er, ob er diese Art von Motorrädern fahren möchte. Kenji hat das nicht über dieses Problem gedacht. Manaka sagt weiter, obwohl es Angst machen würde, wenn sie Motorrad fahren würde, macht es vielleicht Spaß. Kenji antwortet, dass wenn er ein Motorrad kaufen würde, würde er dieses Motorrad kaufen.

Sie halten Hände und küssen noch mal. Manaka sagt, dass ihr Welt glänzend sieht, wenn sie mit Kenji den Händen halten.

Sie gehen nach Manakas Haus. Bevor sie nach Hause zurückgeht, sagt sie, dass sie etwas vergessen hat. Es war ein Kuss von Kenji. Dann geht sie wirklich zurück.

Neue Beachtung: Es gibt neue Spielarte, wie Streiten und Krankheit. Manchmal würde die Freundin krank sein, und wenn Kenji ihr besuchte, würde sie schneller besser werden. Außerdem, wenn er seine Freundin ärgert, kann es ein Streit passieren. Dann muss er erklären, warum sie streiten. Darum würde die Beziehung reparieren.

Am Nachmittag geht er zum freiwilligen Arbeit in der Bibliothek. Manaka schickte er eine SMS. Sie sagt, dass sie ein Mitschüler Hausaufgabenhilfe gegeben hat, und deshalb soll Kenji nicht aufgeben.

Später geht Kenji zum Nebenjob. Alles wird geschafft.

Am Abend studiert er zu Hause. Weil er sehr müde war, geht es nicht so gut.

Kein Wunder. Er hat am Morgen mit Manaka getroffen, am Nachmittag in der Bibliothek und dann in der Familienrestaurant arbeitet. Jeder würde müde sein.

Als er zu Bett geht, denkt er, dass seine Beziehung zwischen er und seine Freundin näher gekommen hat. Er vorstellt sich, dass Manaka zu ihm sagt 「もっと、もっとだよ！」(„Mehr, mehr!“)

Ääääääähhhh?

25 October

They walk to school together. Manaka asks Kenji if he has notice the old man watching them practice. Kenji replies that he has, and he notes that the old man was smiling while watching them play. It seems that he knows someone in the tennis team. Maybe his grandchild is in the team. Kenji notes that the old man seems to be mostly looking at Manaka. She does not remember the old man. However, she finds the old man’s gazing at the tennis ball amusing. Like a cat chasing a spot of light, she says. Manaka adds that the old man was already gone by the time she was about to approach him. They old hands and kiss as they walk to school. Just as they always do.

His last exam for the season ended in epic failure.

Sigh. Even maxing out his stats in intelligence was not enough.

He calls Manaka out for a short date to celebrate the end of exams for this season. They meet at the back of the school.

The mini-data for the map says that it is not a place where many students go to. Also, it requires the most mana points (Puns relating to Kenji's girlfriend are not accepted) out of all locations in school.

Since there is no one there, Kenji takes the opportunity to kiss Manaka.

Seems like the best way to avoid getting huge blue hearts is to only use two fingers to hold the stylus to prevent pressing down too hard.

After returning to their respective classrooms, Manaka sends a text to Kenji, saying that time always seems to fly by every time they meet.

That’s cute.

They walk home together. After a period of silence, Kenji breaks the silence and asks Manaka what’s up. Manaka replies that there is nothing up actually.

Normally I would start suspecting something, but it is possible that there really is nothing up.

Another awkward silence occurs until Kenji asks if Manaka was looking at him, to which Manaka asks so what if she was looking at him.

They hold hands and kiss before parting ways.

Kenji goes to work, where the manager asks him about the new menu item. The manager found Kenji’s suggestions solid and praised him for it. Since he was already there, he calls Manaka out for a short while at the restaurant he works at.

I’m sure this is against company policy in real life, but I don’t give a shit.

Not my fault all the options were the same (愛花) in the translation. For all I know all the options were actually different in the original and the one I chose could have been really too informal for her taste but the subtle nuances didn’t translate well into Chinese.

They kiss outside the restaurant before parting ways.

I was having that sinking feeling that I was going to see a repeat of yesterday, but fortunately this did not happen. Probably because it was outside a restaurant and having a prolonged kissing session there is way more awkward than having a prolonged kissing session at the fountain park.

During the evening, Kenji has some coffee at the local cafe. He remarks that the Jamaican coffee is good.

Before he goes to sleep, he receives a text from Manaka saying that she hopes the date tomorrow would make them closer. Kenji expresses his eagerness to meet her, and Manaka says the same as well. He reminds himself that he should not be late for tomorrow. As he drifts off to sleep, he imagines Manaka saying to him 「店長を呼んで！」(Call the manager over!)

I’ll see what I can manage. Considering I woke up at 0910 this morning, I can’t guarantee anything.

I turn on the system and was greeted by Manaka saying “Happy Birthday!” Not my birthday: mine’s over three weeks ago. It’s my character’s birthday, which I set to 24 Oct.

Actually she said 「ハッピーバーフデイ！今日は一番大切な人が生まれた日。すーき！」

That’s actually pretty cute.

The two walk to school together, as can be expected of them. Kenji talks about how difficult training has been lately. Manaka is still holding well, since she is more experienced. She thinks Kenji could improve on his basic fitness more, and that he could start with jogging every day. Kenji thinks it would be exhausting, but Manaka tells him it would be bad if he doesn’t train.

They hold hands as they walk to school. Manaka says that holding hands feels like having a telepathic connection, and she jokes that she can now see what kind of strange thoughts are going through Kenji’s mind.

Good thing she’s not holding my hand then.

After the first period, they meet up at the courtyard, as they always have. Manaka teases Kenji by holding back the present, seeing as if Kenji seems to have forgotten his birthday already, judging by his surprise at meeting at the courtyard. Manaka wants Kenji to promise he won’t forget her birthday either.

No guarantees here. I’ll be in university by then, and by then it is possible I would have a real girlfriend. The only thing that would remind me is that her birthday is three days away from mine.

Manaka passes Kenji his birthday present: a pair of cushions. Looks comfy. Kenji, seeing that no one is looking, goes for the kiss. His skills have improved a lot.

Slick bastard.

After the kiss, Manaka playfully tells him off for doing this kind of thing in school. Just as she always does.

His exam was another disaster. Just like the day before.

Slowest. Day. In office. Ever.

Kenji goes to the theme park by himself. It wasn’t that bad actually. He calls Manaka for a short while because even the theme park isn’t enough for him.

Actually, it’s because his wingman is having the slowest day ever and want to try this out because why not?

Manaka is eager to meet him, as always.

Kenji apologises for calling her to the fountain park to meet her, but she says it’s fine, since she always wants to meet him.

They have another conversation which the wingman is not privy to.

Now I really wonder what they are talking about. How do people, especially lovers, find so many interesting conversation topics?

He leaves such a good impression on Manaka that she asks him for more kisses. And more.

That’s called a refrain kiss. If your kisses are very good, you may have a session of refrain kiss. Your girl will ask you for more after you finish kissing her. Kenji returns home to study before going to sleep. He thinks to himself how he would treasure his girlfriend’s gift. As he drifts off to sleep, he imagines Manaka telling him “Don’t put the konnyaku (rendered as 魔芋 in the translation) near the meat!”

Solid advice. This prevents cross-contamination. 

Also really in character with what Manaka would say. 

23 October

Kenji walks to school with Manaka. She asks him about his part-time job, and she is interested in taking up one as well. Not because she doesn’t have enough money (that would actually be impressive), but rather she wants to see how the real world works (社(shè)会(huì)实(shí)践(jiàn)). She also wants to experience what Kenji is doing right now.

That’s actually very caring of her.

Kenji attempts to hold her hand, but makes a timing mistake as his wingman was still reeling from what happened in the parallel universe.

He is still feeling restless after the exams, so in an attempt to calm his feelings, he calls Manaka out for a short date.

Or rather, I am still a bit restless after killing Yamada and am still reeling from what the fuck happened. That coffee probably didn’t help either.

They meet in the courtyard. Kenji apologises for calling her out like this, but she is fine with it.

They have another interesting conversation which the wingman is not privy to.

Eh, I don’t care anyway.

They get close to each other and kiss. Kenji’s skills have gotten better since last night. Manaka playfully tells him off for doing this in school.

After returning to class, Manaka sends a text to Kenji, saying how she misses him even though they just met.

Awww. How cute.

Kenji’s second exam was another flop, though not as epic a failure as yesterday.

The two walk home together. Manaka asks Kenji where the most popular spot in school is. Kenji guesses the rooftop, but it is only rated no. 3. Turns out no. 1 is the courtyard.

You’d think he would have guessed it, since his past few short dates were at the courtyard. Besides, it is a better idea than the school corridor.

Manaka mentions that the results were from a survey done by the journalism club. The club also did a survey on the best places in the school to have a nap in, but it was never published. It was rumoured that the club did not publish it to preserve the atmosphere of the places mentioned. They don’t want students flocking over to that place after publishing the result. Kenji proposes checking out for themselves, to which Manaka agrees.

Kenji holds Manaka’s hand, and she comments that his hand is sweaty, which she finds cute.

Despite what the Chinese translation says, it was never mentioned that Manaka finds Kenji ‘bashful’（腼腆） or anything. She only said: 「ううん、可愛い…なんて。」(No, it’s cute, I think.) It was added in during translation.

They kiss on the way home. Kenji is getting better at this.

He’d better. I went to some weird shit going through the notes.

During work, Kenji receives a text from Manaka. She wants to be the first to celebrate his birthday, which is tomorrow.

Oh, right. I forgot Kenji’s birthday is 24 October.

After work, Kenji goes to sing karaoke. He ends up singing until his voice is hoarse.

Sheesh, man. Don’t force yourself.

He returns home. Before he goes to sleep, he sends another mushy text to Manaka. As he drifts off to sleep, he imagines Manaka saying to him “You’re forcing yourself too much! It’s dangerous!”

Huh. Considering how Kenji lost his voice singing karaoke just now, I’d say this is good advice. 

22 October

Kenji walks to school with Manaka. Turns out the upcoming tournament will be held in Towano, so they only need to take the subway. Still, Manaka wants to find a way to solve that motion-sickness issue, just in case they really need to go out of town in the future. Kenji notes some pointers to reduce the effects of motion-sickness: wearing sunglasses, sitting in the front of the bus, and looking forward. She wonders if she can train herself by playing racing games in the arcade, since Kenji suggested looking forward to reduce motion-sickness. Kenji thinks to himself that it would be really impressive if it actually worked.

They hold hands and kiss while walking to school, though Kenji was a bit forceful at the last kiss.

Kenji’s exam was a total disaster. （惨绝人寰啊）

惨绝人寰：extremely tragic.

I have no words, Kenji. I am disappoint.

He walks home with Manaka in an attempt to pull himself together. He asks how effective backboard practice is, and Manaka tells him it is effective, and if there are no improvements, that means he has not been practicing well.

A backboard is basically a board placed on the half-court line that bounces tennis balls back to the serve line. This increases practicing opportunities because now there is no need for another person to start practicing. Backboards usually cost between USD1500 to USD3000.

I was going to restart practicing tennis until I saw the cost of these things. Also, that tennis racket would really need re-stringing and a grip before I restart or Kenji, Yamada and Manaka would materialise from the DS and strangle me for committing such a travesty against tennis.

She adds that there is a very active Japanese tennis player, and Kenji answers that he seems to be the youngest elite in the ranking boards as well. Apparently this tennis player practises with a backboard when he was young. Manaka adds that using the backboard can help check form and practice control. However, she warns that bad habits may form if not carefully done, so he has to be careful.

They hold hands while walking together. Manaka comment s that Kenji’s hand is sweaty. Kenji apologises, but Manaka finds it cute.

I swear I remember reading 腼腆 when I was in high school. What does it mean? (你真是太腼腆可爱了。)

They kiss on the way back, but Kenji is too forceful in the first kiss.

They meet outside the fast food restaurant, where Kenji apologises for calling her out that late.

I wonder what 任性 means. Manaka used it to describe Kenji. I really should brush up on my Chinese.

Under Kenji’s insistence, Manaka acquiesces.

He manages to leave a good impression on Manaka before bringing her back to her house.

As Kenji falls asleep, he thinks about how Manaka was in good mood that day and how he is happy to be her boyfriend.

I’ve managed to download a Chinese patched version of Love Plus+. Let’s see how it goes.

The two walk to school. Manaka asks Kenji if it is difficult juggling studies and sports, since apparently that’s what her classmates feel. They say after tennis they become tired and completely don’t want to study after that

Might I mention what happened to Yamada after his date the day before yesterday?

Manaka worries that she may be falling behind in her tennis practice, since she doesn't feel completely tired after tennis. She wants to arrange with the captain to increase training intensity. Kenji is impressed by that, since he already thinks Manaka practices a lot.

What does 惬意 mean?

It is pronounced qiè yì, and it means satisfying.

They hold hands and kiss as they walk to school.

Sigh. That’s youth for you.

After exams, Kenji’s phone rings. It’s Manaka, and she wants to meet him somewhere in the school. They agree to meet at the courtyard.

Someone get me peanut butter, ‘cos I’m jelly. If only my cellphone rang for these kind of things.

They meet at the courtyard and have a very interesting conversation which the wingman is left out of.

Whatever they were talking about, I probably don’t care too much. That’s just one more thing I have to add into the report.

After a really slow start at the beginning, Kenji manages to make a splendid recovery.

Apparently moving too slow is bad as well. Also, I am slightly unnerved by the DXO who is near me. He doesn’t mind me playing, but it would be difficult to explain to him what I was playing.

They kiss in the courtyard. Whether the courtyard is full of students or not is something to be left to imagination.

Either way, I don’t care.

After kissing, Manaka playfully tells Kenji off, saying that they really shouldn’t be doing that in school.

Of course, you and I agree she doesn’t really mean it.

They return to their respective classes where Manaka sends a text saying how time flies whenever they meet.

Awww how romantic. _bleurgh

After exams, Manaka talks to Kenji about their upcoming tournament being out of town. Manaka expresses some concern that they would have to take the long-range bus to the tournament. Manaka doesn’t really have motion sickness, but apparently it can be a problem if they take a bus. Kenji suggests motion-sickness medicine, but Manaka says she would be drowsy for the entire day if she takes these, and she doesn’t want to take the bullet train alone.

This is the point where I expect Kenji to suggest taking the train with her, but Kenji says nothing. Never thought I would be more on the ball than he is.

Kenji takes his exams. Despite his completely maxed-out everything, he feels that the exams were the worst.

Now I wonder when exam results are coming out.

Later on in the evening, he takes a tour of the art gallery before returning home.

As he falls asleep, he thinks about how Manaka was in good spirits that day and how he felt happy at that.

Good night Kenji. Unlike you poor sap, I have a free day tomorrow.

The two walk to school together, where Manaka asks Kenji if he has heard of ロバの耳の王様の話, which apparently he has heard of.

And I haven’t. Let’s see what the almighty Google has to say.

This is the Japanese translation of the fairy tale The King with the Donkey Ears. It is a continuation of the King Midas story. According to the story, Pan (on the flute) and Apollo (on the harp) challenged each other to a musical battle. All the judges except for one agreed that Apollo was the better player. That judge was King Midas. Apollo (in true Greek jackass god style) punished him by making have donkey ears.

Now King Midas was embarrassed about this development, and thus he hid it with various hats and heavy scarves. The only one who did see his ears was his barber, who was under a strict non-disclosure agreement. However, keeping such a secret was difficult, so the barber dug a hole in a cliff and shouted “The King has the ears of an ass!” Unfortunately, in that hole was a piece of Echo, left behind after the jealous Pan (from earlier) ripped her to shreds for not returning his love. Thus the voice echoed “King’s ass ears! King’s aaaaaaasssssss ears!” And from that day on everyone in the kingdom knew King Midas has the ears of an ass.

Moral of the story: Greek gods are complete jackasses.

Manaka asks why it has to be donkey ears, to which Kenji says that there isn’t much of a difference if they used horse ears and dog ears. “Why not pig ears?” Manaka asks. Kenji replies that it would be completely weird since people do eat pig ears. Furthermore, he adds, it is a delicacy in Okinawa. Either way, he says, since no one eats donkey ears, it is used instead.

Kenji tries to touch Manaka’s head, but she becomes embarrassed by the people watching her, yet somehow she allows Kenji to plant not one, but two passionate kisses on her.

Not sure if shameless or really bold… At least that went better than expected for Kenji.

After exams, which Kenji aced, he returns home with Manaka. Manaka tells him about two fellow tennis members who have fallen for the same guy and thus ended up quarrelling. She fears she will end up being sucked into this shitstorm. She hopes to find a way to resolve this situation before it gets out of hand. “Isn’t love a fascinating thing?” she wonders.

They hold hands and kiss as they return home and Kenji prepares for work.

After returning home, Kenji takes his time to style himself.

He sends a mushy text to Manaka before going to sleep. Manaka replies with equally loving words.

… Right. I ordered him to send it. Move along.

As he drifts off to sleep, he imagines Manaka saying to him それを言うならN500系だよ！

I think that means “It’s the N500 if you say so!”

Other than the N500 series being a series of Nozomi-class bullet train, I have completely no idea what the background of this is.

Another ordinary day for Kenji. He sets his schedule for tennis club, then study (because it’s the exam season), then the part-time job, where some really large order is coming in. Finally he takes a trip to the electric district, where he goes to the maid cafe.

He receives a mysterious text:

俺だよ俺。
彼女の事で困ってるって？
心配すんな、任せとけ、

He finally has had enough of this and wonders who the hell would send these kind of weird texts.

As he drifts off to sleep, he imagines Manaka saying to him水兵(すいへい)リーベ僕(ぼく)の船(ふね) (Sailor Liebe, this is my ship).
